Tracy was known as a "bedroom community" (back then) where by day, people commuted to the Bay Area to work and returned at night to sleep. The city had a few restaurants back then, but nothing prominent such as "Texas Roadhouse," "Ihop," or "Olive Gardens" of today.
I know when we first moved here, the population was only 18,000 and now, the population exceeds 82,000 and growing, although slowly.

"3 STARS" For the museum
A simple yet informative little museum. The grandkids were not bored, and neither was I. Staffed by friendly people.
"5 STARS" Because I live here!
Being that this city is where I call home ("until we move to Hawaii"); I found it fitting to write about our city, so I decided to visit the "Tracy Historical Museum" to find out more.
This city, that I call home, believe it or not, started off as a "Rail Road Station."
Friendly staff and nice envoment for feild trips
The only major grocery center here was "Savemart" before the arrival of Safeway, Raley's, and Wal-Mart, followed by "West Valley Mall and Costco" years later.
I recall the Shell Station on Grant Line Road was the main gas station and the surrounding open "dirt lot" was nothing more than a huge parking lot for truckers, who stopped here and dined at the restaurant across the street, now known as Black Bear Diner (can't remember the name of the former restaurant).
